hifi audio, home theater 5.1I could not help but think of my dad when I heard the classic saxophone cut from Dave Brubeck heard in the video below. This is an old video (1961) that is no less relevant in the jazz community now as it was over 40 years ago. Take Five may be one of the most famous casual jazz songs ever created. I knew it as soon as the first sax notes displayed out of Brubeck’s lips but until finding the video had no idea what the musician or song was called. This is the kind of stuff I grew up hearing on my dad’s home theater 5.1 system. Next time I see him I won’t forget to get this song playing on his HiFi audio electronics.

It is timeless for one reason; they were able to keep it simple. When music is kept simple under the hands of a talented musician, it lasts. I love this track now and will love it when I’m 80 years old. By then who knows what HiFi audio will look like. There sure won’t be any wires running to the receiver.
