Late in the afternoon yesterday, my roommate asked if I wanted to watch Transformers 2 with him. Nothing was going on and that seemed like the perfect way to wind down after a long day. We turned it on and I turned up the hifi audio components in our living room. There is a 10-inch sub sitting adjacent to our entertainment center I normally keep at low levels because we live in an apartment. That and I go to bed early for work so if my roommates are watching TV or playing video games it is hard to fall asleep with the bass coming through the walls.
There is a lot of robot action in this movie. Michael Bay is not a director who skimps on explosions and gunfire. It was really cool to hear the sound volley around the home theater 5.1 system I bought online. At points, I thought someone might complain about how loud our movie was but it never happened. The final battle scene displayed the chops of my hifi audio. It is possible to bring a movie theater feel home.
