My mother finally agreed to replacing her old TV with an LCD television. It took some doing and the TV actually had to come to the end of it's existence before she agreed but it did finally happen! You see, my mother was raised in the Depression era. She strongly believes you use a product until it breaks, then you fix the product and then repair it again or do without. 

Today, it seems to me that we live in a "let's replace it" society. Even before the item is old and breaks a newer and better model comes out and we simply must have it! It's sad but true. Not in my mother's case though. I had to pull her away from her dying TV set to even look at and consider a new LCD television.

My mother lives in a small condo so space was also an issue. We were able to work around that when we found an LCD television that would fit perfectly into the spot were the old TV would no longer be. Just last month we replaced my mother's TV. In the end, she is very happy with the new LCD television.
