New LCD Televisions for Everyone for Birthdays This Year |
| 3/3/2010 9:43:25 PM |
Our family is hooked on our new LCD television and in our family meeting last night, we discussed the possibility of skipping birthday parties for each family member this year and celebrating their birthdays by giving them their own LCD television for their bedrooms. And to be fair, we decided we'd have one birthday celebration for everyone and give them their LCD television during the party.
My husband and I came up with this idea after seeing what good deals there are for LCD televisions online and thought that our kids are old enough to have their own TVs in their rooms. The television that we found had a DVD player in it, so not only can they watch TV, they'll be able to watch movies and play their console games. We're only talking three new LCD televisions here, so it's not like buying each of them a car.
The kids loved the idea so we all agreed to go forward. They like to have their friends over after school and for sleepovers, and it would be nice for them to be able to entertain their friends in their own rooms instead of sharing the family room with the rest of us. Our kids love their video games and they do have some educational value, and now each of them an play when and what they want in their own rooms.
The LCD television we thought would be perfect is the Haier 22" Widescreen LCD TV/DVD Combo and it's the perfect size for each of their rooms. It is compatible with PC's so they can use it as a monitor or watch live streaming videos on it, too. Each of them has laptops and the LCD television has USB input, too. My husband found a good deal on these televisions at Electronics For Tomorrow at http://electronicsfortomorrow.com/, where he found a lot of LCD televisions but liked this one the best for its price, size, and features.
We have a nice LCD television in the family room that is larger and it's perfect for watching the news or sports' events as a family. I have the TV reserved for Saturday afternoons when I watch the cooking shows on public TV, but otherwise, I'm good with letting the rest of the family watch whatever they want. It'll be great for them to have their own TVs and we might enjoy having one in our bedroom to watch the news while we get ready for work or I'm cleaning the bedroom and bath. I'm glad that we reached a mutual decision to skip the individual birthday celebrations and go with the same gift for everyone. Of course we'll still observe the birthdays, but I think giving the LCD televisions early makes so much sense for everyone.
