flat panel television, lcd televisionSunday evening traditionally is my time to kick back on the couch and watch one of the many things on our flat panel television. It starts with the 5:30 pm NFL game and ends with shows like Bored To Death. Last night I flipped the scripts on the average Sunday after being invited to dinner with a good friend’s family. I’ve known them for over a decade now. They are sort of like my family away from my own family. I can expect a few things when they put on a big dinner. The first is great food. Last night we had Sword Fish. The next is hilarious stories from his grandpa. And the next is wine—good wine.

I’ll gladly miss football on my LCD television to experience all of those things. Nothing beats a great conversation, food and drink. The beautiful part about it is even though I wasn’t home to watch my favorite shows on the flat panel television they were recording so I can watch them today after work. Technology is great but it never takes the place of great conversation.
